by Anonymous

NEW YORK, NY July 27, 2004 -- Klein Creative Communications teamed up with the Urban Justice Center to help top lawyers, real estate financiers, and legal media kick-start the summer with the Beer, Blues & BBQ benefit on June 30th at Studio 450. Four hundred donors and supporters came out for the 18th annual fundraiser, which featured fundraising raffles and a silent auction, micro-brewed beer, live blues music and delicious Virgil's BBQ, helping the non-profit to raise $100,000 for legal representation of poor and homeless New Yorkers.

"The money raised at this event benefited some of the poorest people in New York City by allowing us to continue our work on their behalf," said Douglas Lasdon, director of the Urban Justice Center. "We were thrilled that Klein Creative could assist us in our efforts."

Major donors present at this year's benefit included law firms Shearman & Sterling and Debevoise & Plimpton; real estate company GVA Williams Real Estate; and legal publisher American Lawyer Media. These VIPs were treated to "Summertime Blues" gift bags created by Klein Creative Communications to thank them for their generous donations. Klein Creative's sponsors contributed goodies worth almost $1,000 to include in the silver backpack totes donated by Yon-Ka Paris, including a complimentary laser teeth whitening treatment (with a new patient exam) from FishmanRoth Cosmetic Dental Associates(www.smilesny.com); Lights Out Candles travel tins (www.lightsoutcandles.com); Selah Parfums Jerusalem perfumed hand lotion (www.selahparfums.com); Warm Spirit's vetiver lotions; cans of Izze sparkling fruit juice (www.izze.com); gift vouchers for Legal Sea Foods restaurants (www.legalseafoods.com); JetBlue Airways luggage tags (www.jetblue.com); Yon-Ka Paris auto bronzant (www.yonkausa.com); and Runaway Jury DVDs from Fox Home Entertainment (www.foxhome.com) to thrill the legal eagles in the crowd.

Sponsors secured through Klein Creative also contributed many of the items in Urban Justice's raffle and silent auction, which raised almost $15,000. Top auction items consisted of a Phoenix travel package, including two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines (www.iflyswa.com), a two night stay at the hip James Hotel Scottsdale (www.jameshotels.com) and a two night stay at the luxurious Pointe South Mountain Resort & Spa (www.pointesouthmtn.com), which drew a $1700 bid; a San Francisco travel package, including two round-trip tickets on JetBlue Airways, a two night stay in the heart of the city at The Argent Hotel (www.argenthotel.com), and a two night retreat to the hills at the Claremont Resort and Spa (www.claremontresort.com), prompting an $1100 bid; plus an interactive dinner party for 12 at MacMenamin's Grill in New Rochelle ($800 bid, www.macmenaminsgrill.com); a one-day rental of a Ferrari 360 Modena from Gotham Dream Cars rental service ($600 bid, www.gothamdreamcars.com); and a Spa Chicks on the Go two hour spa party for four ($600 bid, www.spachicksonthego.com).

Additional auction and raffle donations generated by Klein Creative included a beauty gift basket from Warm Spirit (www.warmspirit.com); a one night stay at the legendary Algonquin Hotel (www.algonquinhotel.com); a handmade lariat necklace from Cheena Chandra Jewelry (www.cheenachandra.com); a Legal Sea Foods apron, new cookbook, and $100 gift certificate for dining; a package of dance lessons at Empire Dance (www.empiredance.com); a silk baby blanket from the Fancy Babies Collection (www.fancybabiescollection.com); an insulated carry-all for picnics and tailgates from Gourmet Tote (www.gourmettote.com); a Vintage New York tasting party for 10 (www.vintagenewyork.com); a Yon-Ka Paris special summer gift basket of beauty and sun products; a $350 David Yurman signature sterling silver cable bracelet with green peridot (www.davidyurman.com); an Ogden Little teflon-coated print dot tote bag (www.ogdenlittle.com); a box of cigars from Martinez Cigars (www.martinezcigars.com); a Selah Parfums Jerusalem gift basket of perfumes and lotions; and a pair of glass earrings from Fred & Lola (www.fredandlola.com).
